I don’t know anything about coding, but I’m posting this here in the hope that someone who does will have pity on me.

Last year, I found this user script (no name/contact info or even a date) for hiding Dreamwidth comments from blacklisted users. It works, but replies to the comments aren’t hidden, and I would like them to be.

Please help me?

Hello! I'm not the expert here, but your entry is getting some attention -- the main person here is off at a thing this weekend but Has some Thoughts.

Pretty sure Azz means me in their comment - I think this should be possible but I need to look at the site code when I have more than five hours of sleep in me, so this is mostly a 'if I don't reply here again by next week please gently poke me because it probably slipped out of my goldfish brain'

Hi! I think I have an idea for how to fix this for you—I uploaded a crack at it here.

Dreamwidth only nests comments visually, rather than, like, HTML-wise, so you have to cycle through the successive comments to check if they're higher depth than the initial comment, and then stop once you find one that is of equal or higher depth (because that means you've exited the thread).

I haven't 100% tested this so I'm not sure if it'll 100% work but I think it'll at least get close?

Ok! here you go; if you go to this link on something that lets you install userscripts it ??probably?? should prompt you to install it, although I'm not familiar with Runestone. I tested it and it should work as would be ideal.
